Chest infection every time I get a cold

Does anyone else have this? Every time I get a cold or a cough it goes to my chest and I end up on antibiotics and inhalers (but not until i've suffered enough to be able to get a prescription). Does anyone else suffer? And why do you think it happens? Weak lungs?

Me too. It really gets me down. I have asthma, so I’ve always assumed it’s that.

I get this. It's because I'm asthmatic. I'm now on strong inhalers and tablets and it seems to stop it happening. Has your doctor considered that it could be asthma?

Maybe I should get tested for asthma? It's horrible isn't it? Every cough or cold turns into months of feeling awful.

@youdontnome Do you mind my asking what you’re on? I’m on Surdupla inhaler and have been offered Montelukast but I worry about the side effects.

Sirdulpla I mean!

I get this, it’s so annoying! Mine is because I had whooping cough as a young child and it has damaged my lungs.

I asked to tested for asthma in my 20s but lateral flow came back negative - although decades later I am wondering if I have exercise induced asthma as I wheeze and cough after even a small amount of running.

I'm on fostair 200/6 and montelukast. I'm not sure of side effects but I know that on the rare occasions that I have run out I'm very SOB at night. If you mainly have breathlessness at night I would definitely recommend it.
