mydd (4) has a cst iron bladder goes 6 hrs without having to go for a wee but today she has been at 7.00am, 9.00am, 11.00am and 11.45am - all big wees - no change in colour etc. What culd this be? She had sweet potato, potato, carrot, parsnip last night and i read somewhere sweet potato can be a diuretic - is this the case? Any help please?

has she got any pains?

Is she excessively thirsty as well? Possibly a urine/bladder infection.

Highly unlikely biggy would be diabetes, but she would be thirsty too. If there is extreme thirst I would rule it out at gp or even a&e if she seems unwell as diabetes onset can cause serious problems very quickly if not treated. Breath smelling of pear-drops can be another sign that hospital treatment is needed if linked with thirst and lots of weeing.

However, highly unlikely it is that, and really don't want to worry you unnecessarily, but being diabetic myself wanted to make you aware just in case!

she doesnt seem to have any pains and isnt complaining when she wees. Not excessively thirsty either. Thanks for the warning re diabetes - obiously i'll keep my eyes open.

The weeing slowed down yesterday and she was fine overnight. This morning she did a big wee once she got up (this is unusual for her as she normally doesnt need to wee when getting up) and she went just before preschool at about 9.00am (on my instigation!) Lets see how today goes. She's not brilliant at telling people she needs to go so yesterday had accident at preschool which led to merry hell in trying to get her changed so just hope she doesnt do the same today!!!!!

BTW, it is not unusual for girls to have to go more often...and indeed, I would think going 2 hourly is healthier for the bladder then having long gaps inbetween...

i agree - i think she goes too long normally and would go even longer if i didnt take her!!! Just not used to this!
