Metanium is very good when DS has a bad rash - but you need to use it sparingly...its pretty yellow and it reeks but works!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 27/01/2008 22:57

I use Kamillosan

Aero · 27/01/2008 22:57

I'll second that - metanium is fab, but you must spread it very thinly so it can work properly. Will clear up nappy rash very quickly. Sudo creme irritates dd's skin badly, but this works brilliantly.

QuintessentialShadow · 27/01/2008 22:58

Sudocreme is not good.

I THIRD the Metanium, it is excellent.
Bephanten is also very good.

KatyMac · 27/01/2008 22:58

Metanium - has cleared up many a bum at my childminding

But don't get it on cloth - it's difficult to wash out

callmeovercautious · 27/01/2008 22:59

We had this and used one reccommended by the Pharmasist - ahh can't remember the name - it is in a yellow tube and comes out yellow too..... Go into Boots and ask. If not the GP gave us a Hydrocortisone based one when it got really bad.

I will check the names and let you know - they are in her room so I can't check as I will wake her

Change her Nappy more often and let her kick about bare bummed for a bit each day - it really does help.

expatinscotland · 27/01/2008 22:59

Weleda nappy creme.

It really is the business.

Holland and Barrett's.

Lulumama · 27/01/2008 22:59

kamillosan

moljam · 27/01/2008 23:00

Weleda and also metanium.
callmeovercautious-thats metanium.

Swedes · 27/01/2008 23:00

Metanium for clearing nappy rash, Sudocrem for prevention.

PurplePillow · 27/01/2008 23:02

trinityrhino dd3 had areally sore bum and her ds recommended bepanthan and it cleared it up in a day or 2

kindersurprise · 27/01/2008 23:02

For normal nappy rash I used Weleda Nappy Cream This is (as it says on their website, lol) the one that the midwife recommended to me.

For really bad nappy rash, I used Bepanthen It worked really well.

miarosemum · 27/01/2008 23:02

ooh ladies you are great, what a quick result, thank you all so much, will try the metanium as you all seem to vote for that one, and like the sound of the natural ones as well weleda?

expatinscotland · 27/01/2008 23:04

I keep a tube of the Weleda around because it so works! Even on spots and chickenpox.

miarosemum · 27/01/2008 23:06

well she is normally ok and the sudocrem keeps any thing like that at bay but not this time poor little mite..will go to holland and barrett tomorrow thankx

Pannacotta · 27/01/2008 23:06

Weleda here too, its amazing stuff.

thirdwisearticmonkey · 27/01/2008 23:15

Bepanthen is fab for ds, sudocreme made his skin blister

kindersurprise · 27/01/2008 23:19

btw, DD has eczema and the Weleda cream bath is brilliant at soothing her skin. She used to have really dry skin after a bath but not since I bought the Weleda.

OracleInaCoracle · 27/01/2008 23:20

i used bepanthen for ds too, was fab and really easily absorbed. (good for spots too)

miarosemum · 27/01/2008 23:26

great, have heard of bepanthen as well, will have a good look tomorrow
