A stye or something else?

I’ve just pulled my bottom eyelid down cos I thought I had something in my eye, but actually it’s a small lump. Painless but I can feel it. I’ve only just noticed it so not sure how long it’s been there. Google just brings up styes but it doesn’t seem to have any pus or anything and like I say it doesn’t hurt. Is there anything else it could be? I will keep an eye on it (literally) and go to the doctor if it doesn’t clear up but wasn’t sure how concerned I need to be.
did try to get some pictures but couldn’t get any clear ones!

Sounds like a blocked meibomian gland (chalazion).
They're pretty common. Generally not sore until they get so big the skin really stretches.
Don't bother with your GP, there's no real treatment for them and removal is usually cosmetic and not NHS funded.
Use warm compresses and massage to try to get it to expel itself. If it gets really big you can have it removed but likely that will be private.

Ooohh DD has exactly the same thing.

Heated eye mask from Amazon, eye gel from the pharmacy and massage but at 23 she's an adult so obviously that's down to her.

Go to chemist and get some eye cream, can’t remember name but it begins with C.

CrocodilesCry · 25/10/2022 22:08

Eye creams/antibiotics won't work. It's not an infection, it's a blocked gland.

Warm compress. As hot as you can bear. Then massage. I had one last year and it went really quickly as soon as I started to treat it.

Oh i forgot i made this post! It is still there but I think smaller. Can’t feel it, no pain. I took a picture but I don’t want to trigger anyone with a pic of my eyeball…

I'm interested!

Showed my mum and she thinks it’s one of those chalazion things. Here you go!

That was yesterday, I’ve just looked and struggled to find it for a sec as it’s way smaller! So I’m not concerned

I'm with your Mum.

Great it's improving.

CrocodilesCry · 28/10/2022 20:52

Ohhh I'm not sure! It looks very low inside your eyelid but it could be a chalazion. It's not connected to the surface of your eye in any way is it?
If it's getting smaller that's good news though.

petridishmystery · 28/10/2022 22:41

No not connected to my eyeball! I wouldn’t even know it was there if I hadn’t briefly felt it and looked! I just wanted to check on here in case there were any other concerning reasons for it but I think it’s fine!
