Crap Colonoscopy / Haemorrhoid advice please ?

I had a Colonoscopy last Sunday after a positive result from a bowel cancer screen.

I am 4 yrs post roux en y bariatric surgery - the type where your bowel is re-routed (I was advised to have this after I became obese due to mobility problems. I am a single parent & the consultant said obesity is linked to cancer so advised the procedure. I have felt unwell every day since & hugely regret it).

I called the clinic to say I would not be able to take the full amount of Plenvu (small stomach) & it might not work as expected due to surgery. I was told: 'no other options'. I was still producing diahhrea as I went in for the procedure.

Surgeon said: 'oh, you've not done very well with your prescribed prep have you?'
I explained about the previous surgery as he'd not read my notes but he was not interested. I watched the procedure (I was given some sedation but was very aware & it hurt quite a bit) & my bowel was not terribly visible as not very clean...

I was discharged with a letter which says: 'no sinister findings' which is good news. But dx haemorrhoids. My bowel has been unhappy since the tx but I know that should settle. Is there anything I can do to help with Haemorrhoids please?

If they're particularly troublesome you need referring for options. Banding, surgical removal etc. if they're not at that level then there are lots of over the counter treatments and as self care - don't get constipated, use moist toilet paper/wipes instead of dry paper, keep external ones clean.

All of the above advice plus I find witch hazel soothing after wiping, anusol HC (the one with the steroid cream) after every bowel movement and a regular soak in one of those foldable sitz baths you put over a toilet (you can find them on Amazon)

if you are still in pain and not happy with your surgeon i would highly recommend Mr Andrew Clarke, he was great when i was suffering badly with my bowels.
