What do internal haemorrhoids feel like

And what were your symptoms if you had them internally? I know bleeding can be one. I'm not bleeding but I have a horrible constant feeling of incomplete emptying. It becomes so uncomfortable as the day wears on.

I'm seeing a doctor next week but wondering what on earth is wrong with my rectum.

Gone on since covid in April. I use a suppository and more comes out but there still feels like there's something wedged up my bum, permanently

Mine feel like I've got glass shoved up my arse when they're having a flare up, the rest of the time, they're quite itchy & a bit sore, I also have external haemorrhoids too, which is fun! My drs apparently sent a referral to the bum drs at my local hospital about 2 years ago, I've heard nothing though & my drs are refusing to do anything else as they've already made the referral, so they've done what they have to! (Yes my drs really are that rubbish!)

mistermagpie · 20/10/2022 14:02

I've had them a few times thanks to giving birth and the main symptom other than bleeding was that it honestly felt like I was shitting broken glass (sorry!). I didn't really feel bunged up as such but if I was constipated it was agony. The suppositories did help me.

I started taking a high strength magnesium a couple of years ago and I've never been constipated since, after a lifetime of that issue. Just a thought if that's part of the issue for you.

Thank you both, doesn't seem like it's haemorrhoids that's causing the sensation then....

Could you have a prolapse? If you look up rectocele, it sounds like it matches your symptoms.

YukoandHiro · 21/10/2022 21:26

If it feels like a Dorito shoved up your bum hole it could be an anal fissure

TiredButAlive · 02/11/2022 14:39

I have this same feeling .... after two weeks of Covid!!! Can it be related to Covid? Or perhaps a lot of coughing and nose blowing has prompted a bit of a prolapse! I'm trying suppositories for piles to see if that helps.

Bellybutton88 · 06/02/2023 00:06

@stirling did you ever find out?

stirling · 26/02/2023 22:16

Bellybutton no, it's just getting worse. Got a catheter exam this week at St Marks. I don't know what's going on but it's so inflamed.

stirling · 27/02/2023 21:14

What are your symptoms now?

Bellybutton88 · 10/03/2023 14:02

@stirling are you any closer to getting an answer?

stirling · 24/03/2023 23:38

Hello, they just ran a stupid pressure test which was pointless. No im afraid I'm no closer to an answer. How was your appointment?

OP posts:
Bellybutton88 · 25/03/2023 08:00

Yeah had flexible sigmoidoscopy they said its grade 1 haemorrhoids on the anal margin. Still waiting for follow to appointment, not sure what what to make of this. Iv used pile creams etc and still getting the pain so I'm not sure that's the cause

stirling · 25/03/2023 14:06

It might take more than just creams. I've completed a week of steroid pessary that the gp prescribed called proctosedyl and it has helped.

I'm standing up much more and avoiding sitting plus avoiding constipation. Taking a good supplement called juvia which helps stool formation.

Good luck

stirling · 27/03/2023 10:34

Hello I have internal piles and this is my symptoms

  • feels like incomplete emptying after BM
  • Feels. Like something inside after BM
  • even sometimes during the day
  • making me go crazy @stirling
they are not inflamed so I don’t know why I feel them I am not even bleeding. They were confirmed by scope and I think they said I have 3 of them
daphne890 · 22/05/2023 12:56

How are you feeling @stirling ? I’m having similar problems at the moment

stirling · 23/05/2023 23:16

Parentingfullofworris thank you for sharing this sounds just like me !

daphne890 I have had a few weeks of feeling better but it's slowly returning. Possibly due to less activity ?

OP posts:
stirling · 23/05/2023 23:18

I found that drinking carbonated water and chewing my food excruciatingly slowly plus taking bitter veg before a meal (radish , radichio , rocket , some sauerkraut) a very small amount, helped ...

Hi, I was wondering if you got any answers from this as I'm having very similar symptoms.
it started off with constipation which then changed to me having this feeling of something inside my bum constantly. The doctor gave me laxatives but although it stopped the constipation slightly the other symptoms remain.
I have the constant feeling of something inside me (kind of like a sharp stone (sounds weird I know) I notice it more after I've been to the toilet ( poo

stirling · 11/09/2025 23:13

Hello
I've worked out that it's triggered by too much fibre, taking magnesium, top long walking and being constipated can trigger.
Also having a reset helps me a lot , that's unfortunately harsh bowel prep for an exam - the jug full of laxative solution just empties out all my bowels and this alleviates things for some months. It's not safe though so I can't just recommend it

Lying on my side in the evening helps , sitting for hours is lethal
