Mirena Question

MissMirena · 30/11/2004 07:48

I have a Mirena in since last May. I have had no periods for over 20 months as I had my son and bf'd for a long time then got the Mirena.

I only had spotting for one day after I had it inserted. This morning I have woken up and have bled during the night. Not much mind. Anyone know if this means the mirena may have dislodged in some way. I don't want any more babies and my gp recommended the mirena as being safer than having my tubes tied. Anyone?

Hi MissMirena,

I have a mirena, but haven't experienced anything like you describe. Have you tried the official website here ?

What about ringing NHS and asking them?

MissMirena this happened to a friend of mine. Breastfeeding when she was fitted, no bleeding for a few months and then very heavy bleeding. She had a scan and the coil had disappeared. Can you feel the strings? If not I would go to your GP.

I also had a mirena thats disappeared but had lots of bleeding right from having it fitted. Am quite disappointed and unsure what to do now. I wonder if my doctor is fitting them correctly.

Thanks for your replies. I have never been able to feel the strings tbh.
