Is it normal to get a temperature after a bang to the head?

Ds, 14 months, had a fall this morning and banged the back of his head on the fireplace. He also banged his mouth on the box that he fell out of. Because it was a deep cut we whizzed him up to the hospital. They too concentrated on the cut but did ask me if he had lost consciousness, which he hadn't.

He has been quite subdued this afternoon and now has a temperature. Could this be linked to the bang, shock, etc. or could it be coincidental dd has had tonsillitis and ds had it about a week ago too.

try nhs direct. they'll advise re wether you should go back, you can't be too careful where the head is concerned.

Thanks, i'm in Spain, unfortunately I don't have access to nhs direct. He's playing now but looks a bit pastey. I think I will just keep an eye on him for a bit longer.

I would ring the hospital and say you have been in already but need further advice.
