Breast lump/thickening

I've just got back from the GP as I seemed to wake up with a large lump around 4 weeks ago. It coincided with my period so I thought hormonal and ignored it. I am prone to lumps but they are usually in my armpits. But they usually hurt too. This feels a bit tender if it's messed with but not as bad.

The GP said he also found thickening in my other breast, so I feel worried now. What if I've had a small lump there for ages and just didn't notice until it became large? He also said he thought it was 4cm by 3cm but then typed 8cm by 6cm into the notes for the breast clinic. Is that normal? That also sounds huge. I'm quite worried. Anybody else had this?

Hi, sorry you are in this boat too. Unfortunately, I did have quite a bit of breast cancer which had spread to some lymph nodes. Most referrals to the breast clinic (9 out of 10) are nothing serious. And despite my diagnosis, I have responded very well to treatment and my oncologist expects that I will be 'cured'.

Was ur lump turned out to be cancer or thickening in other breast tissue? Also would u be able to tell me was it seen on ultrasound or mammogram?
