I was diagnosed with mild gastritis via endoscopy at the start of the year although symptoms began the year before. I've done the gastritis diet (a lot) and I appeared to be better but it has flared up again. I've also done the acid watcher diet. I've taken probiotics (but no idea if they're the right ones for me).
The medical standard is to prescribe PPIs or H2 blockers. I've tried them all but I get awful side effects so they're not for me. They're a bit of a band aid for a lot of people and once you stop taking them it just comes back. Generally speaking without them, if I am very careful with my diet I just feel nauseous and very fatigued. If I did eat the wrong thing (tomatoes, spicy food, alcohol, chocolate) my stomach would burn and I can't get out of bed. So life is limiting either way.
I want to get to the bottom of this and heal my gut and feel I need to do it without the doctor who has been useless (and I have spoken to several). From what I can gather from online gastritis groups, it's pretty standard for GP's to not really know how to help, other than PPI's (temporary solution).
I want to test my gut health and find out what's going on inside me - but I want it to be thorough and cover everything. It's something I'll need to save up for. I've had a look online and feel overwhelmed by what i have found and don't really know where to start. I need something that's going to tell me about my bicrobiome, whether I have any deficiencies or parasites and anything else that might be impacting my gut. Has anyone been through this or have any recommendations?
