Stool sample done wrong?

I was asked by my GP to do a stool sample. I was given two pots with labels in sealable bags. No instructions so I googled and followed that.

First time, results on my app came up just saying error. I called the GP surgery and they said they had been wrongly labelled (suggesting I mixed them up, I know I didn’t!) so I needed to do it again.

so I did it again. Second time, I get a text from GP surgery saying I have done the sample wrong and I need to do it again. With a link to instructions - the same ones I found via google and followed the first (and second) time. Although no instructions for the other type of test (two different bottles, one with a little shovel and one with a kind of screw thing, which was the instructions they sent me)
I rang Gp surgery and they just said I need to do it again and follow the instructions. I said I felt I had and they said they will send me the link again. And that’s it.

so, what do you think I have done wrong? I don’t want to have to keep doing it, it’s a horrible process anyway and finding the right timing to do what I need to do and go straight to GP is difficult with work etc.

how can I have collected my poo wrong 😫
