tiny cut won't heal

I just can't go to the GP about this, I don't think, as it's such a tiny (literally) thing.

About a year and a half ago, maybe a bit more, I got what looks like a tiny split in the skin at the top of my thumb - not a cut, but more like the kind of thing you get in really cold weather. It's just 2 or 3 mm long but has never healed. It's often a bit sore but not any more than you'd expect a little split in your skin to be. Sometimes it stops hurting for a bit and I think it must be healing but it never actually disappears then will randomly start hurting again.

I don't think it warrants a GP visit as it's not even that annoying. The only thing is that I keep thinking of stuff I've read about always seeking medical advice for things that won't heal. It doesn't look like a growth, though, which is presumably what that advice is referring to. Shall I just put it down to one of those random annoying things your body does?

What are you putting on it?

Ive had splits like this, with nothing on they can last forever as with no moisture/protection they just seem to linger.
This stuff rubbed on regularly throughout the day has helped heal pretty deep splits within a couple of weeks on me, but I’m talking putting it on after every hand wash, every hour or so when sat watching TV etc. it’s a pain but it works.
