Metronidazole antibiotics and alcohol, how long do you need to wait after course finishes?

I know that alcohol cannot be consumed whilst taking a course of metronidazole as it can make you very sick. However...if I finish the course today, is safe to have a glass or two of wine with dinner tomorrow evening? Anyone know, thanks.

I think it's 24 hours, not 100% sure though.

this says 48 hours .Bummer.
I can't imagine I waited that long though. It's not in my nature

Thanks! Agree, total bummer , was looking forward to some wine but maybe better hold out another day then.

I've drunk alcohol in moderation - 2 small glasses of wine in a pub - on metronidazole and it didn't make me sick.

I had a glass of wine with metronidazole - I was very ill!!! Teach me to think I knew better

expatinscotland · 26/01/2008 15:27

i've drunk with just about everything with no ill effect .

but then, i'm a drinker so what i did was just have a glass or two.

McDreamy · 26/01/2008 15:29

lo, expat!

Does that mean I'm a light weight ?

majormoo · 26/01/2008 20:16

I drank a few glasses the day after I finished a course and it did make me feel nauseous although I wasn't actually sick. I remember it clearly as we were in Venice for a weekend without the kids-how unlucky to be on those evil antibiotics then!

expatinscotland · 26/01/2008 20:19

no, really, i didn't notice any difference.

but again, i'm a drinker.
