Eczema and cows milk?

I have just succesfully managed to switch my DS onto Cows milk from Formula.
He has however got a patch of eczema flared up on his arm.
He did have eczema a long time ago when I switched breast milk to Formula.
This was treated succesfully with Calc Carb and Aqueous and Calendula cream.
He has had clear skin up until now after the treatment.
Is there a connection, I think I read there is somewhere and what are the alternatives?
Soya milk. perhaps?

It is a possibility, yes soya milk and dairy free products.

But eczema can have a million and one causes, so i would keep a food diary first.

Formula milk contains some cows milk too, so this could be why it flared up then too.

I would see how you go for a while, if eczema doesn't go away, do a test for a week or so avoiding cows milk and see how he does.

Could also be useful to keep a food diary to see if any foods are making it flare up, look out for dairy products causing it. And also consider washing powders and bath products you have switched lately.

My eczema is caused by preservatives in many toiletries etc, and i believe stress and tiredness also make it worse.

Hello,
The cows milk is really the only thing that has changed in his diet.
Is Soya milk much different in taste, if I try that? Will he tolerate it?
He is also teething a bit co maybe not helping the situation too.

my ds's excema seems to have spread since i started giving him normal bio-yoghurt, instead of the danone baby yoghurts wich are made with follow on milk. he has always had cows milk formula, so could the yoghurt be affecting his skin??

My DS got eczema around the same time I switched from breast to formula and I wondered at the time if there was a connection - HV said no. Turns out he is allergic to bananas!

alibo · 30/11/2004 10:53

kbear, how did you realise about the banana?? (also on other thread about excema starting in a 2 yr old)
