What do you reckon the odds are of me getting it?

(she's been sick since this morning, had the squits yesterday too)

Is the whole household doomed? (please say no!)

Pretty good chance I'd say, DD had this in Oct, vommed on me twice then I started 2 days later...Nip out for dioralyte now while you still dare to leave the house?

notnowbernard · 25/01/2008 21:52

Oh shit.

I really can't handle the thought of it.

Actually it depends. You may have already contracted it whether or not she vomits on you. Assuming you have good hand hygiene and she hasn't coughed on you or actually puked into one of your orifices you may get lucky.

DD has had bugs and puked on me (including projectile vomiting and covering me literally head to foot) and I didn't contract it. Mind you I probably gave it her, I was feeling fluey the week before but I don't do puking unless it's a full on gastronasty!

Good luck. Buy some nice soft bogroll and put the flannels with a bucket ready to wipe your face afterwards.

Think of the weightloss

notnowbernard · 25/01/2008 22:04

Poor dd2... she looks so pitiful in her little t-shirt and nappy!

I have been floored by these bugs before. Worst was when me, dd1 (then 3) and dp all had it at the same time. dd2 was a 3m old breast-feeder at the time... shockingly difficult situation all round!

Oh dear

I had norovirus (before it was trendy last year) and managed to vomit without detaching DD who was feeling sickly and breastfeeding continually

The good news is you are probably immune to the worst of them then?

notnowbernard · 25/01/2008 22:15

Maybe... it does seem to be my Achilles Heel though

(Am not a slovenly wench, honest!)

Had a shocker in Thailand once... never to be forgotten... beach hut with intermittent electricity supply and no flushing toilet and no air-con

Oh poor thing! We have DD7 poorly at the moment, although I keep telling myself she has tonsilitus! is sick every 4 hrs or so and Dr gave her antibiotics today! I hate sick with an avengance, but so far I seem to be coping big time (haven't run off screaming its not fair!)

whomovedmychocolate · 25/01/2008 22:21

Nice

Actually some people are naturally more prone to tummy bugs than others. I rarely get them but if I do it's always very bad, DH vomits once, feels better. Bastard!

However I was delighted last time because I passed it to my MiL and SiL and they were ill for weeks. Serves them bloody right for complaining when we left after four hours because I had a two hour drive back and wasn't feeling well.

notnowbernard · 25/01/2008 22:24

Pinkbubble - do you have 7 dds?! Or was that a typing error?

OP posts:
pinkbubble · 25/01/2008 22:26

The way you can tell if its croup is they tend to have an awful seal bark, its the only way I can describe it!

notnowbernard · 25/01/2008 22:29

soph28 · 25/01/2008 22:34

there's a good chance you'll get it- sorry!

Your thread title made me laugh though cos it reminded me of when ds was a baby, he wasn't often sick but when he was he would always wait for me to pick him up and then puke all over me. Every time, without fail.

notnowbernard · 28/01/2008 21:25

DD2, bless her, is back on fine form.

DD1 spent last night puking instead. She was able to 'hit the bowl', though, so I may live to escape this round
