Irritated bits

So I went to the Dr's about a very itchy and sore vulva. They took a swab and did a smear, smear came back OK, swab said low presence of some bacteria I can't recall. The Dr said this bacteria doesn't usually cause any problems but gave me antibiotics because I was symptomatic. It did get better for a bit after the treatment but it still doesn't feel quite right. I received an appointment for a gynae outpatient clinic even though the Dr didn't mention this. Do I go back to the Dr for the slight itchy uncomfortable feeling? Or wait for the apt which is not until March.

I think it's either lichen sclerosis or vaginal atrophy, I certainly have a lot of peri symptoms at 41.

Go back to the dr.
I suffered for several months with LS getting worse and worse. I wish I had gone sooner as, even after months of applying steroid cream, it is still bothersome. If I had gone sooner it maybe wouldn’t have become so bad.
Even if it isn’t LS they should be able to give you something to help.
Mr Dr also gave me Dermol to wash with.

Try some Vagisil

Your symptoms do sound very like the start of vaginal atrophy. I would go back to your Dr and ask for some Ovestin. This is a topical oestrogen cream which is used vaginally and should help with the soreness and irritation. Unfortunately G.P's are often woefully ignorant about V.A and its symptoms.
