Desperate.

My mum has lost her vision in her left eye due to this. (CRAO is
a sort of eye stroke.)

Desperately looking for any solutions or stories about folk getting past this horrible situation.

At the moment I feel as though my mum is at risk of a full mental breakdown because of the stress and I’m worried about how this would affect her health or what’s left of it.

This happened last Tuesday and so far she has tried three days of steroid infusion
and hyperbaric therapy but no improvement and we are not expecting to see any.

So has anybody known of cases where people with this terrible disease have gone in to live a relatively normal life? At the moment everything looks so bleak.

thankyou.

I'm really sorry, but there isn't any good treatment, unless you get it really quickly.

She does still have vision in her right eye though I hope? And a lot of people do really well on just one eye, including driving when they've got used to it.

She needs to do everything she can to keep the other eye healthy, maintain a good weight, eat well, not smoke, regular checks with the GP.

Thanks for your reply

yes she has vision in her other eye

but the shock seems to have brought on some dementia and I feel like she’s going to have a mental breakdown

I’m getting her to do stuff around the house but she’s unwell anyway - severe fatigue for months so in many ways this feels like the last straw for her
