Ds1 has just started university and has told me that he has started losing his hair. My brother and uncle both lost their hair young, so there may be a genetic component. But I also wonder if it may be related to eating a less healthy diet/ the general stress of leaving home?

There seem to be a million hair loss shampoos out there along with expensive specialists. Do any of the shampoos or similar work? Any other advice from people who have been through similar?

My son starting losing his hair round about the same age. It really bothered him (and me, I felt sad for him) but we played it down. No point getting hung up on shampoos etc because that leads to cover up powders and transplants!

During lockdown , he shaved his head because he wasn't able to get his hair cut and he's never looked back. He looks ace with his buzz cut and has so much more confidence now he's not trying to cover his hair loss up.
