Just after some advice or wondering if anybody else has experienced the same.
So I had my smear test today which was a tad uncomfortable but manageable, afterwards the nurse commented that she could see what looked like endometriosis on my cervix. I have been experiencing some spotting between periods + bleeding and pain after sex, which I mentioned to her beforehand. She said that it's most likely the endo causing it.
I have a bit of history with endo going back over 10 years, ultrasounds (which found multiple cysts and endometriomas stuck to the back of my uterus) , laporoscopy (which showed nothing) and a colonoscopy ( which showed nothing) gynaecologist made me feel like I was going crazy, and that my symptoms were all in my head, he even laughed whilst I cried in his office!. I was put on the pill to manage my symptoms which helped for a while, and just left to get on with it and managed with just painkillers as and when, but no real official diagnosis of endometriosis. No comments were made at my previous smear, so I guess the endo wasn't visible during that time.
The nurse advised I book in with the GP but I'm hesitant to start the process all over again after feeling not listened to the first time. I've also just started the 2nd year of my nursing degree so this is not great timing at all.
Do you think it's worth exploring further?
Or just manage my symptoms as I have been for the past 10 years?
TIA
