Metronidazole + alcohol

Let me start by saying, I 100% know that I cannot drink when I am taking Metronidazole before anyone comes at me...but I have a slightly different question!

I need to start taking Metronidazole but I haven't got my prescription as yet, dispensary is calling me when it's ready which may be later today or could be tomorrow morning. I am due to meet a friend for drinks tonight, nothing wild just a couple of glasses of wine - if I drink wine tonight and take the Metronidazole in the morning, will that be just as bad? Or will it be okay as the alcohol should be out of my system by morning?

(I know the other way round that I need to give it 24-48 hours after stopping Metronidazole to drink alcohol...)

Also is this antibiotic likely to make me feel shitty? 🤔

I had a drink the night before starting it (I didn't know I would be starting it!) and was fine although I didn't have my first dose until much later the next day, so over 18 hours gap. TBH, I wouldn't risk it, it is strong stuff and presumably you need to start it ASAP.

It didn't make me feel "ill" as such, just a bit worn out and under the weather, but some of that could have been the infection it was treating.

Thanks. I might skip the drinks tonight, I hate feeling (or being) sick.

I'm not really in any pain right now but it's been prescribed as I've got lingering niggles following tooth extraction/dental abscess 12 days ago (swollen gum, tender jaw, sensitive teeth) which point to there still being an infection.

Good luck! On the plus side, it is REALLY effective, shifted something that had defied repeated courses of more benign stuff.

Anyone know when these are meant to start working?? I've been taking them since Thursday evening and feel nothing!
