HSG scan today ... BUT...

I am due to have my HSG scan today, following my ops for Asherman's Syndrome last year.

It has to be done within 10 days of Day 1 of my cycle. Today is day 7.

But on the phone they told me I must not be bleeding for it to take place.

Yesterday I wasn'r, but woken this morning and I am bleeding a little bit. It is very light. It may well even stop in next hour or so.

But what do I do? If I don't have it done today I have to wait anothr month - and as my next consultant appointment is the beginning of March it is cutting it fine if that is the case.

Do I risk it and just go, andhope it stops?

Or do I contact them and tell them, and risk it being cancelled?

Go and plead ignorance.

You reckon? That is my temptation, although I have been told very cearly that I musn't be bleeding. I guess I can go in and say that I wasn't bleeding when I set out for the hospital. Typical isn't it?!

But if it is light spotting it may not be signifant anyway. At worst they can say the results could be flawed and come back another time , may be Monday even (would that be Day 10) ?

I would call them and tell them the truth - its an important scan and it would be awful to get flawed results, wouldn't it?

Hulababy · 25/01/2008 08:59

Yes, day 10 is Monday - but they have no sppointments left for Monday. I had to really lay it down to get this one today.

I had to call on Day 1 but they had lost my notes. Took me until Tuesday to get the consultant's secretary to have sent a new copy of notes across (5 minute walk BTW!), which arrived at the xray department Wednesday lunch. Then took all afternoon on and off the phone to get this appointment, basically with pleading! And they only do HSG scans on a Friday and Monday - grrr!

I guess I just go and hope for the best don't I? Unless the bleeding starts up more during this morning.

As it isn't really a proper period - it has been enforced after 6 weeks of hormone treatment - it is really difficult to know what will happen, for how long, etc.

It appears to have stopped. So I will set off shortly.

good luck.

Thanks all. Been and all done. Was not pleasant but the results seem positive, My uterus and tubes are all clear and there doesn't look like any signs of adhesions anymore - so hopefully the ops have been a success.

Have some quite nasty cramping now - possibly worse than normaly expected due to recent op scar issue - but should go within 24 hours.
