Under my arm I have a pain. It's sore when I move my arm,and when I press on it it's even worse, the kind of pain that brings tears to teh eyes. It is very tender, and feels lumpy, but I can't feel a specific lump, if that makes sense. DH thinks I have jsut pulled a muscle, I often have to open and close really heavy lift doors umpteen times a day at work. However, I am convinced it's something else, I keep poking and pressing it. The reason being 2 aunts and a cousin have had breast cancer (there, I said it) and I get paranoid at the slightest pain there. I can't get into doctor until Tuesday, as I have dental and hospital appointments on Monday. Tell me it's jsut a pulled muscle!

Thanks MMJ. I know I'm being silly, I just get so paranoid about it

silly question, but do you wear underwired bras, and could you be allergic to the metal in them?

I only ask because I get what you are describing quite often and it is an allergic reaction to my nork-suspending underwear.

I do wear underwire bras, but have done for years and never had this pain before

first off, i dont think breast pain is significant to breast cancer, also i think that part is meant to feel lumpy,(mine does anyway) it does sound like a pulled muscle to me, take some ibuprofen and i bet later on the pain will diminish

fryalot · 25/01/2008 08:46

tis probably unlikely that it first appear quite so strongly.

Tis probably a pulled muscle, and like MMJ said, it sounds like pain is good. Stop poking around.

If you are worried, could you get an urgent appt with the doc? (I don't say that meaning you need to get to the doctor immediately, btw, just to put your mind at rest)

You could have an infected gland or something - I had a very painful lumpy thing and it was a sebaceous cyst. It is worth getting it checked out - 99.99999% it is not anything sinister, but going to the GP will firstly put your mind at rest, and secondly you may need antibiotics, so they would be able to give them to you.

Btw, as soon as anyone notices anything like this, they aggravate it by checking it, touching it, thinking about it....

I'm sure it will be fine, and I do understand how you feel! Go to the GP!
