Bumpy cervix

I've barged in from the women's health board and hoping for some traffic over here.

So on a self examination for my fertile window, I have come across 3 bumps on my cervix!!

They're not massive, maybe half the size of a pea? My last smear was 2 years ago and clear but I have had previously had pre cancerous cells removed from my vulva about 6 years ago.

Any idea what this could be or has anyone has similar before I start planning my funeral 🥴

I had blocked pores on my cervix, apparently - observed during a colposcopy - essentially spots! No idea what they looked or felt like, but apparently they were nothing to worry about. Ten years or so later I had to have a LLETZ procedure for precancerous cells but I don’t think they were related. Nonetheless I’d go and get it checked out if I were you.

Hi Op, it is scary when you examine yourself and find something unexpected. I've been there, especially when I was learning how to insert a diaphragm!
It sound like you felt Nabothian Follicles (sometimes called cysts). They are mucus producing glands on the cervix, covered with skin and can get clogged. They are completely normal, nothing to do with cancer or infection and don't need any treatment as they usually resolve by themselves. I hope this information can help.

Oh thank you for your replies girls!

I see a gynecologist every six months and I'm due in October so hopefully he'll be able to tell me what it is. I'm really hoping for spots and cysts and nothing nasty.

I wish I'd never rummaged around up there now!

I had these!

I self examined by accident hunting for a lost tampon and frightened the life out of myself. Was referred to see a specialist and they found one of these.

Still get checked out but try to stay calm and remember there is so many other things it could be rather than the worst

My cervix has always been bumpy (well ever since of thought of having a feel). I don't know what it is but my smear tears always come back clear.

I found a knobbly lump on my cervix and promptly shit myself but I was referred to Gynae as a 2WW and it turned out to be a Nabothian cyst

Ok so these replies have calmed my nerves. Thanks all!!

Hi.

Nearly three years ago during a smear my nurse wrote on my notes I had two Nabothianal cysts ,she never mentioned them I just read on my notes , my smear was hpv negative and the 3before that were all clear , I seemed to have developed such bad anxiety lately I started thinking my smears due in 7 months , what if their still there ?are they safe to have left ??I never got any bleeding from them , nothing , regular periods clear smears , someone panicked me with some thread I read and now my nurotic brain keeps thinking what if I left and they can change into cancer , are they normal ?smears all good always been ok

fantasmasgoria1 · 16/01/2023 14:02

Yes i felt some 4 years back. The doctor looked and said it was Nabothian follicles! The nurse has seen them on smear tests and they have reduced I think.

Katie2665 · 16/01/2023 14:08

Thank you , she didn't mention to me because my extreme anxiety she just wrote on my notes , I have been panicking thinking what if they have turned into cancer over the last three years , did you leave yours three years ?always had great smears

polkadotpixie · 16/01/2023 21:17

@Katie2665 Nabothian cysts can't change into cancer, they are completely different and unrelated

HPV infection accounts for all most all cases of cervical cancer. It causes changes to the cells (CIN1 / CIN2 / CIN3) which if left untreated can lead to cancer

Katie2665 · 17/01/2023 07:00

Really ?I have left them three years ,so they can't change over the three years into cancer ?if my last smear was hpv negative means would have had to be positive for cancer to be there ?I keep panicking thinking what if they wasn't cysts three years ago , I keep panicking for my smear in July thinking what if they haven't gone and it was cancer or something .
