Weird fluey thing. Worried

For the past couple of weeks I’ve felt like I was getting a cold or something but nothing came of it. Then on Thursday I felt really rough. No appetite, but nauseous, chesty, achey, etc. Really felt like I was getting flu or something. On Friday I felt worse but had no specific symptoms. It felt like my nose would start running or I’d start coughing at anytime but nothing happened I just felt really unwell. My chest was feeling a bit tight and I was having the odd pain in my back (lung area) but no fever and I just wanted to sleep. I thought maybe a chest infection and I’d soon start coughing.
Thing is it’s now two days later and I still feel unwell but nothing specific has happened. If I was to talk to a doctor I’m not sure what I’d say. I’m getting worried that it might be a heart problem or something and I’m getting anxious.
Has anyone experienced anything similar or can anyone offer any ideas or reassurance? I’m getting really worried now as I’m not feeling any better.
Thank you

Have you tried a Covid test?

Photosymphysis · 25/09/2022 20:25

Nonspecific unwell, tired, but no tangible symptoms to complain of. That's exactly how I felt with covid!

PinkButtercups · 25/09/2022 20:26

Could be covid but also you don't need to have a cough to have a chest infection. Get an appt with your GP tomorrow or 111 if you feel really unwell. I'd say pneumonia would have to be ruled out.

NotJustAnybody · 25/09/2022 20:28

I was feeling like this for days and eventually cold like symptoms did come out - coughing, blocked nose, sneezing. That didn't last long but I still ache so much and just walking the dog leaves me exhausted. I mentioned it to fellow dog walkers (as I had a dizzy spell while out) and they said they'd had it and felt the same. My conclusion, it's probably just a cold. It's not covid as I did a test.
I'm on week 2 and hoping I start to feel better this coming week.

Aconitum · 25/09/2022 20:29

I've got that. Took about a week before I started coughing uncontrollably and dripping snot. That lasted another week. Had a bad stomach too but that might have been all the paracetamol I took. Into the third week now and I still feel and sound rough. I have had 3 reasonable nights sleep now though so do feel a bit better.

Dita73 · 25/09/2022 20:31

Thank you so much everyone. I’ve done three Covid tests and they’ve all been negative. I was thinking about seeing the doctor tomorrow but I don’t want to waste their time

I had a similar thing last week. In fact on Thursday I felt so ill, I got a taxi back from work and told dp I was going to wake up with flu but I was ok the next day! I keep waiting for something to come but it hasn't yet. I think it's the combination of the heating going on on public transport, a mild cold and air con in the office combined. I got some day nurse from Boots and some nasal spray. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

outtheshowernow · 26/09/2022 06:36

I've had this exact thing every month for the last four months. Been ill up to 2 weeks each time. It's taken a toll on me. Doctor has referred me for long Covid clinic even though I only had Covid once in 2020 !! I feel for you it's really horrible. Keep taking paracetamol and drink loads of warm fluids

ShandaLear · 26/09/2022 06:38

I’d keep on doing COVID tests. I had symptoms for a week before I got a positive test, and your symptoms are textbook Covid.

netflixandgrill · 26/09/2022 08:49

Same, I got a positive after at least 5 days of proper symptoms starting. Do another covid test if you can. Symptoms sound exactly like mine.

MinnyMous · 26/09/2022 19:32

I had this along with a sore throat and tested every day for 9 days. All negative.

Dita73 · 26/09/2022 21:14

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I felt a bit better this morning but I fell asleep for an hour and woke up feeling awful again. Still testing and still negative. It’s so odd

There is some bug around if it's not Covid it's something like Covid. I've been up and down for the past 4 weeks. Nothing else I've ever had goes up and down like this

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 27/09/2022 13:37

There are lots of virus type things around right now which aren't Covid. I've had a nasty cold/cough with aches for almost a week now, not Covid. Friends came back from abroad on holiday, not Covid but nasty bad cold/virus. Work colleague has bronchitis.

There are a lot of bugs going around with variations in feeling better or not.

Dita73 · 27/09/2022 22:43

Felt a bit better this morning and went to the shops but I was really dizzy. It was manageable but I was very aware of it. This evening I stood up and had a really bad head rush. I often get these but this was really bad and kept going. I had to quickly lay down. I felt like I had a huge amount of pressure in my ears. I was ok after a minute or so but I still feel a bit dizzy. I’m still doing Covid tests and they’re still negative. No idea what’s going on but I’m far from right

Urgh, I have something similar. It isn't that bad but it just won't go away and every day I feel neither any better nor any worse. It's mostly a non-specific feeling of not quite right. No energy, much more tired than usual, stuffy nose and a very mild low-lying headache that won't shift. Could happily go to bed. Head feels congested. No sore throat, no cough, appetite fine, tested negative twice. Feels like a bad cold that is refusing to come out. Annoying.

DeclineandFall · 28/09/2022 09:50

We have this as well for weeks. Up and down. Never coming to anything. DS says his friends at school have it. Now today he has a sore throat and I have bad sinuses, and dizziness. Again. Pretty sure covid was in there somewhere at the beginning of term and at the beginning of the summer.

thesunwillout · 29/09/2022 21:49

I have something similar. Was just doing a search on here b4 starting a thread.
2 weeks in, 6 negative covid tests so far.
Cold, cough, bad cough, one sided ear and neck ache now. With a cough.
Then earlier I felt suddenly sick.

My daughter has had it for 3 weeks.
I know it's not flu, like when you can't get up, had that couple times.
I've had swine flu too and that was awful.

This is like a never ending cold.

Pissed off with it.

Moneyworrier123 · 14/10/2022 17:14

I am having very similar symptoms, dizziness, nausea, stomach ache and extremely tired. For over a week now! Like you all said it feels like a cold waiting to come out. Getting annoying now!! Been to doctors who can’t find anything wrong even with blood tests.

Sindonym · 14/10/2022 17:19

Have exactly the same. Feel awful. LFTs negative

thecrispfiend · 14/10/2022 17:25

Same here feeling rubbish on and off for weeks... negative covid tests, I assumed it was a viral thing

Sindonym · 14/10/2022 17:30

Although after about a week mine has developed into what feels like flu

Moneyworrier123 · 14/10/2022 17:33

Negative LFTs for me too. I’ve been off work as staring at a screen and being in calls makes me so dizzy. I’ve also been having this feeling of anxiety and being on edge, whirring ears and a cloudy head. Sorry to hear others have similar, I’m finding it really hard!

EndlessMagpies · 14/10/2022 17:34

There's loads of it about. I had pretty much exactly that for over three weeks and have only just managed to shake it off. Multiple covid tests all negative. Our chemists ran out of test kits. The assistant said so many people locally had this bug, and were coming back saying the tests were negative and buying flu treatments instead.

Dita73 · 14/10/2022 19:38

Thanks for all your replies. Glad it’s not just me. I’d actually started to feel better then a few days ago it kicked off again! Sore throat, chesty, achey,no appetite, etc. I thought this was it and I was definitely coming down with a rotten cold or flu yet still nothing!! Like all of you I’ve had endless negative covid tests. At times I feel feverish. Felt dizzy and sick. No point going to the doctor as it’s all too vague and they’ll just hit me with the classic “it’s a virus”. Fed up with it now
