slowing losing the will. Its been a very long 3 weeks started with a sickness bug then my oldest started with this tummy pains out of hours doctor and then a&e 2 days later saw surgeon ruled out appendicitis. Meanwhile youngest has been in different hospital with extreme tiredness had bloods urine, ecg, Ct brain scan everything normal discharged with laxido as thought to be constipated, 2 days later starts with the pains doctors say there’s nothing wrong with observations. Seems ok in the mornings gets worse as the day goes on. Anyone been through this? How long can it last? What else can I try? I’ve started him on a multi vitamin, calpol, nurofen and hot water bottle are all regular.

Oh gosh any update? My 3 year old is going through this now, we’re on day 5

Heeeeeeeelp I came to post the same! My DD is on day 35 or so. We also started out with a visit to the ER worried about appendicitis (our GP sent us straight there after looking DD over). They confirmed it was just swollen lymph nodes based on an ultrasound and blood test, but a month on, she’s still in daily pain.

We went back to our GP 1.5 weeks ago for a follow up. She confirmed that the lymph nodes in DD’s neck were still swollen, therefore it’s likely they still are in her abdomen too. The GP said it is quite normal for the pain to last “just over a month”.

But here we are… is there anything that can help my DD actually heal? It’s so hard to watch her in pain every day. And I’m tired of getting calls from school and from her friends’ parents during play dates saying that she has a tummy ache… “yes, I know, it’s been a month. The doctor says to just get on with things…”

Hopeful bump for the evening crowd

Have anyone who has posted here can give me an update on how their children are doing?
My daughter's been in pain for 10 days. The doctors who saw her in a&e and gace diagnosis said up to three weeks. What I am reading is not reassuring at all...

I am not one of the previous posters but DD has suffered with it for years. She invariably has a flare up prior to coming down with a virus.

It started when she was about 7 but got less frequent as she got into her late teens.

My daughter was diagnosed with this on and off for 2 years. 9 trips to A and E with her in agony. At last they gave her a scan and we found out she actually had a choledochal cyst.

Thank you for your answer.
How long would the flare up last each time she had a virus?

MeinKraft · 26/07/2023 08:41

Oh my 6 year old gets this, the poor thing has had constant viruses over the spring and summer and every time he gets a stomach ache for a week or two. I wondered at one point if he had coeliac.

SeptemberGrumpiness · 20/09/2023 12:46

Just wondered if anyone has updates on their poorly children?

My daughter is currently laid up in absolute agony with swollen lymph glands in her stomach. Missed the start of high school, has had blood tests (clear) and ultrasound scan (which showed swollen glands).

The pain seems to be getting worse rather than better but doctors don't seem concerned as she's eating, drinking, weeing and having a poo if I bribe her (says it hurts).

Mamoun · 28/09/2023 22:50

Sorry to hear that. Are things better now?
My daughter is back to normal and the whole ordeal lasted two weeks and there has been no new episodes so far. She's become more picky with food, she says the idea of sausages make her sick but apart from that all good.
Good luck.

thank you so much for replying! feeling a bit lost at the moment as to what (if anything) we should do.

we’re now on week 3 of continuing pain and inability to move from being curled up on the sofa. Can’t stand without help, or walk far without severe pain.

I’ve almost gone to A&E a few times for help with the pain but I don’t think there is anything they can do beyond where we’re doing at home. Surely it should be getting better by now?
