Tonsillitis & Stones

Hi all

I went to the doctor yesterday after seeing a black mess on my right tonsil and in a lot of pain. Got antibiotics for 7 days and been barking salt and taking tablets.

I'm really struggling to get any sort of relief it's so painful! Anyone else had experience with this and how long did the antibiotics take to kick in? It's driving me crazy 😩😔

I'm just getting over tonsillitis at the mo. The pain went away for me within 24 hours of starting amoxicillin but the swelling took longer to go down and the pus streaks I had never went away. I am now on 10 days worth of phenoxymethylpenicillin to try and get rid of the pus streaks but 3 days in so far and no change. Still no pain though. I really feel for you. The pain I had at the start of the infection was absolutely horrendous! I had tonsillitis a lot as a kid but I don't remember it hurting anywhere near as badly as it did this time around at 30! Painkillers, numbing sprays, ice cold drinks, hot drinks etc - nothing helped but the antibiotics took the pain away for me quickly. I hope you feel better soon 🙂

@RumHam oh god it's horrid isn't it! You take for granted being able to swallow don't you! Yea those are the antibiotics I have, nothing much seems to have changed yet but only started last night I'm just inpatient because it hurts so much 😔

Thankyou I'm finding warm drinks and soup etc more soothing than coke I'm hoping few days and I will be better. Glad to hear you are feeling better ☺️
