Inflamed keloid

Hello, I have this keloid on my inner thigh(fold between thigh and vagina) from an injury about 8 years ago. Recently it has become swollen and painful. I went to the gp but she wasn't very clear to me and just prescribed a cream to reduce the size of keloid and said I can go for cosmetics surgery if I like. Don't know if it's pf any relevance but I have recently started cycling, and it happened right after my first cycling session, the cycle seat was putting a lot of pressure on it because of it's odd place of occurrence 🙈 I am posting here to know if it's possible for a keloid to suddenly become tender after 8 years of causing no trouble? I AM TOTALLY AWARE THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS FORUM but personal experiences really aids calming my anxiety. Thank you 😊

Well, if you're putting pressure on it that it hasn't had to cope with before, it sounds sensible that the cycling is the cause.
The cream was probably a steroid to reduce it down and dampen the inflammation.
If you want to carry on cycling, I'd advise asking the GP to go ahead with a referral to plastics.
If this is all on the NHS, lucky you that your GP will do it, so take the opportunity. You might still have to wait a long time though.
In the meantime, either hydrocolloid plasters or padded shorts might help.

Well, for sure, my keloid will get annoyed if rubbed and it is 12 years old. The NHS won't remove it (and outcomes for removal aren't good) so focus on stopping the pressure from cycling - really good shorts/tights with a narrow pad (Endura do a narrow pad version), a narrow road saddle, and a bike fit (you'd be surprised how much this can change things)
