Mucus in throat and throbbing face

I’ve had a cold for 2 weeks now, the banging head and sneezing have subsided but a thick snot remains. It drips down my throat at night and gives me the most awful sore throat. I could see the snot on the back of my throat this morning (sorry TMI). My ears hurt and my face feels heavy and like it could pop. At what point do I see a doctor? The snot is thick and bright yellow. My throat is red and swollen and I’m avoiding swallowing because it hurts so much. I don’t want to bother a doctor with a cold but I’m miserable.

That sounds like you may have an infection? Definitely go and see a doctor.

I would think, based on the symptoms you're describing, your illness has progressed past "just a cold"--more likely a sinus or throat infection. You may get fobbed off by a GP, but a walk-in clinic I've found to be more helpful with these sorts of things (and may actually be willing to prescribe antibiotics)

Yep sounds like it's gone to your sinuses, you might need antibiotics

Thanks everyone, I’m actually struggling to talk because my throat is so swollen now so I have managed to wangle a GP appointment. Thanks for the advice, it’s much appreciated.

Exactly same symptoms I had for a sinus infection. Antibiotics cleared it up, but I remember my face was so painful! Hope you feel better soon.
