Does anyone else have pulsatile tinnitus?

I suddenly developed pulsatile tinnitus a few weeks ago. It came out of nowhere and it's now constant and driving me nuts.

I briefly spoke to my GP last week. She didn't say much, other than she needs to see me in person, so I'm going in on Thursday. I assume she'll examine my ears and check my blood pressure. I'm going to ask for a range of blood tests (iron, vitamin D, thyroid function, cholesterol) and for a referral to ENT. Is there anything else I should ask for?

I'm 39, healthy weight, never had high blood pressure. I do have a history of sinus problems so I'm assuming that's the most likely cause of this, but I don't know.

Has anyone managed to find out the cause of their PT and successfully treat it?

Any other tips for dealing with it? I have an app of tinnitus relief sounds which I'm using at night to drown out the wooshing.

Thank you.

Have you started a new medication or increased any? Are you drinking more caffeine or dehydrated?

I had it for a few years out of nowhere, then it stopped. It started when I worked in a loud bar and carried on after I left. Then I think it stopped when I started taking multivitamins, and maybe also had less stress.

Never had a cause diagnosis, other than iron and d were quite low.

Hiya - I'm seeing an ENT for this next week, will update then. I had a burst ear drum in 2020 and my ear has never been the same since then, I have lots of weird symptoms, blocked feeling, pressure not right, certain pitches of sounds making my ear crackle and now recently the pulse in my ear. It's not all the time but comes and goes and is driving me mad. Never had ear probs all my life until this ear drum thing. My GP said it was an urgent referral because of the pulsing which has set my health anxiety off... yay

I definitely think mine was related to low iron levels (due to a chronic illness I have).

Yes I have this combined with dizziness for the past three months. It's been awful, so debilitating. I've seen ENT and had an MRI which found a cyst on my pituitary gland which he says is incidental and unrelated. Waiting now for endocrinology. Nothing else showed.
Mine came on two weeks after starting beta blockers for AF. Cardiologist says not caused by those either!
I'm having vestibular rehab therapy for the dizziness and taking Beta Histine but completely fed up with the whole thing!

I’ve had it for nearly forty years, as well as normal tinnitus, but unconnected to it I recently had mastoiditis and pulsatile tinnitus can apparently be a symptom of silent mastoiditis, so that might be worth reading about to see if you have any other symptoms.
