Heavy periods, holiday, depressed.

Some one please try and cheer me up because I feel so depressed and have had non stop panic attacks today.
I am due to go on holiday tomorrow. I have so looked forward to this holiday and I have had a really really terrible year, so I was desperately looking forward to the time away.
We planned the timing of the holiday so I would not be on my period.
My period was due last Monday and still has not arrived.
My periods are so heavy that I usually would not leave my house on the first 3 days that I am an on. They are so painful and painkillers won’t touch it. I can’t use tampons. I will leak through 2 night time maxi pads (which I wear in the day) within an hour maximum (but usually 30 minutes) to give you an idea of how heavy they are.
I am devastated at the thought of being on my period on holiday. I know some people might think it’s ridiculous to get so upset over this, but I have had such a bad year 😭 I feel like my bad luck is never ending. I want to go swimming. I want to relax and enjoy myself. I don’t want to spend my time stuck the hotel room most the time, or worrying that I’ve come on, or worrying that I’m leaking, or covered up by the side of the pool and running off every 20 minutes or change pads.
Today it’s really got to me and I’ve just cried all day and I’m having panic attacks. Someone please give me some words of encouragement or uplifting words.

Period pants! You can now get them in swimwear, it might be too late for you now though

I hope you get it sorted, I suffered for many years with heavy periods until I discovered tranexamic acid tablets.

Went from having to wear nighttime towels in daytime. Praying I'd start my period at weekends, as could not move for first 3 days.

These tablets stopped my periods being so heavy so I could wear tampons etc. not have to worry so much about leaking.

I went to doctors as tried a maximum tampon and 10 mins later was leaking, I just thought some women had heavy periods and it was normal. Wish I had known about it sooner, suffered for 20 years. Now at the age when my periods seemed to have stopped!

I hope you get it sorted and I know how debilitating it is.

Another happy user of tranexamic acid here. My periods are at least 50% lighter and I barely think about them for most of the day now.

Before taking it I’d have to shuffle, hunched over to the toilet in the morning or I’d flood terribly.

My ferritin was way too low from all the bleeding and with the combination of a iron supplements (which I only took for a few months) and tranexamic acid my ferritin levels are back to normal. I was exhausted all the time and on my heaviest flow days I would feel wobbly sometimes.

I think we may have worked out why my period is late.

Ive just had a positive pregnancy test.

I only tested because the doctor told me to, and was really reluctant because I did not think there was any possibility…

but I’m going to go to the shop and buy a few more tests to double check as I just can’t believe I could be pregnant?

@Depressedasf
Wow! I really hope that this pregnancy is happy news for you and want to wish you a massive congratulations!

Depressedasf · 20/09/2022 12:51

@jumperfromasda Thank you. I don’t want to get too excited incase it’s a false positive.
but it would explain so much if it is positive.
But, I also feel like an absolute lemon that I didn’t even consider this as a possibility. I’m still not sure though, I feel like I can’t be as we do use protection. I know that contraceptives are never 100% but… it just seems so unlikely, I’m just feeling a bit shocked atm. Need to test again to be sure!

SpotOnMyBot · 20/09/2022 20:06

Oh my goodness! Well at least there's a reason that makes sense. I hope you get the outcome you want :)
