Yes, it does indeed.

Have you knocked it? Could be a trauma.

It’s a bit more than a start. But yes, that’s a fungal nail infection. GP can prescribe you a course of anti fungal tablets. That’s the only proven way to cure it.

It could just be the nail not being joined onto the skin underneath the side? I had something similar.

However I’ve also had a fungal infection, the gp looked at my toenail and said to send away a clipping of the affected bit to see what it was. So I was given a container and I subsequently dropped in a bit and it was sent off. You have to get the bit that’s bad looking as another clipping from the other good bit won’t show up as infected.

I was offered a course of pills to swallow along with regular blood tests as they can affect your liver or kidney function (I forget which).

or a prescription for nail varnish that stops the fungal infection and prevents it spreading but you have to do it twice a day for a year as the nail grows out.

I opted for the latter as a dodgy toenail seems like a poor reason to risk my health as I have enough issues already, and almost a year to the day of using the nail varnish it was cleared up.

I have friends who took the tablets and they were both fine and it cleared up much quicker.
