Can we talk IBS and poos?

I have some signs of IBS (I've done the poo sample test and it was fine.)
I find that eating any pulses just gives me really loose poos. No pain, or wind, just needing to dash to the loo in the morning and so it goes on...

I eat really healthily- semi vegetarian if there is such a thing! Mainly fish and pulses with little read meat.

But after eating chick peas, beans or lentils, I need the loo the next day maybe 3 or 4 times. The same with nuts.

I do lactose free dairy as that seems to help and don't eat gluten (haven't for years as it flared my eczema.)

I'm just fed up with suffering when I've eaten a bit too much fruit or high fibre foods.

If you're eating high fibre foods it's common sense you'd need to go more than the normal person. I wouldn't automatically assume it's IBS.
Maybe lay off them for a few weeks first and see if it improves?

Look at the low fodmap diet.
Pulses are an issue for alot of people with ibs

Thanks both.

It' s not just a case of eating a lot of fibre @GoneWithTheWine1 it's the urgency of needing to go and it being very loose, and needing the loo when outside. Yes, it does subside if I eat no or low fibre food but that's not healthy long term.

@Stripyhoglets1 Yes I know about the Fodmap. In a professional role I knew about it many years ago, and talked to some of the chief researchers and dieticians working on it. I've tried it but it's too extreme, for a start, to carry on long term for me, but also I can eat some of the foods on the 'high' list.

I think the issue is that the amount of fibre I'm eating wouldn't be an issue for most people, but for me, it is! My Mum is the same and says that if she eats baked beans, she suffers with loose bowels.

I don't have any of the classic 'pain' that goes with IBS, just urgency and needing to go a lot some days.

Whatever strategy you try, make sure that you get plenty of calcium and Vit D down you or osteoporosis will creep up on you before you know it.

I know all about that @Mischance , thanks. I'm under care for it (preventative.)
