I noticed a small what I thought was a blood blister on ds hand when he was a week old.Its grown in size and after looking on web tonight I now know its a hernagioma which basicaly is a benign tumour common in infants that may get bigger but will go by the time he is about 5.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Do you mean a haemangioma? If so, yes I had one as a child and DD had one on the side of her tummy.

Mine shrank a great deal, but hadn;t disappeared by the time I was six, so my parents decided to have it operated on. I now have a smallish scar. In retrospect I think it would have been better to leave it.

DD's birthmark looked like a bruise on her side. It grew to about the size of a 10p, but was not very pigmented and was not at all prominent. It's now almost disappeared (she's nearly three).

You might want to go to the doc to get the diagnosis confirmed. I would imagine they will advise leaving it unless it gets very large and impedes the movement in his hand (unlikely).

DS had this on his eye - looked like an infected eye-duct and thus was not diagnosed til about 8 weeks.

Disappeared before first birthday/
