Tips for improving immune system?!

My DS started nursery 6 weeks ago and I’ve been ill every day since. I’m so fed up. I’m just getting over my third lot of severe tonsillitis (I never felt so ill as I did on Monday) and I’ve gone straight in to another f cold.

I started back at work and I’ve only had 2 full work weeks but feeling so rough has definitely been affecting my productivity.

DS doesn’t sleep through but it’s usually only 1-2 wake ups, which are manageable. I eat pretty well, drink lots of water, try to get fresh air daily etc but still I’m just bouncing from one infection to another.

I’m feeling so angry with myself that I keep getting ill and I just don’t know what to do to give my immune system a boost?!

Are you taking vitamin d?

Dr William Li's book Eat to Beat Disease has a chapter about immunity. He's on various podcasts and Instagram too.

I find taking Vitamin C everyday helps.

I did this in winter last/this year because my then-2 year old was getting so many bugs and passing them all to me. It felt neverending and I was so run down, I really struggled with work and got quite depressed.

I took:

High dosage of vitamin D (I can't remember exactly how much now, but it was 4 of the little white tablets - Maybe 4000mg? There's loads of googleable research anyway).

Vitamin B12

Vitamin C

Echinacea at the first sign of anyone in the house having a cold

Actimel every day (I know they're meant to be useless but I really do find they help. You could take acidophilus instead).

And go to bed really early at least once a week.

It did seem to work - I stopped getting every illness, and I really notice a difference if I don't take some of them when needed. Regular vitamin D improves my mood, regular B12 makes me less tired, Actimel does seem to make my gut happier.

Oh and less sugar - it's a vicious cycle because you eat the sugar because you're knackered and need a boost, but if you just stop for a while your body adjusts and it tastes horrible when you eat something very sweet. I definitely feel better when I'm not self-medicating with doughnuts.

Thanks all - looks like I'm off to get some more vitamin tablets!

@Numbat2022 - I'll put down the Krispy Kreme...
