anyone else had problem with contraceptive implant

i got implant in may and my periods have settled in to a routine where i get 2 periods a month and recently i had a period that lasted a week and a half it stopped on a monday then 4 days later on the thursday my periods started again and they were both heavy its ruining my sex life

have you spoken to your GP? I don't have experience with implants but it doesn't sound right!

unfortunately irregular bleeding is a common side-effect of the implant and it can occur at any time, even if you've been on it for a while with no problems before. I would advise you to return to your GP or family planning clinic where they can probably give you some pills to stop the bleeding. Are you up to date with smear tests? Have you ever had a check-up for infections such as Chlamydia? I suspect you will be asked these questions when you go for your check-up and you may want to consider a screen for infections if you have never had one before, as sometimes a symptom of infection can be irregular bleeding, although this is fairly unusual. I do think it smost likely to be your implant causing the bleeding though and although it is annoying, it isn't really anything to worry about.
