Hi
I have had diarrhoea for over a week now. Have called gp and 111 and neither have rung back. Today I have developed a large rash of hives and it's getting worse and worse Sad
Is this an a&e job? I'm worried I have an infection

When did you phone GP and 111

nervyb · 11/09/2022 23:15

I phone at 10:40am and then 17:00 and still nothing back from them

Have you fever? Do you feel unwell? Are you able to drink fluids? Is your pee a weak tea colour? Do the hives blanch if you roll a glass over them? If not ? Meningitis and you need A and E.. if you’re worried just go, your blood tests will be back in an hour and they can tell if it’s something serious

@Knockmealdowns
No fever but I do feel nauseous. Have had what seems like a stomach bug for over a week now

Google meningitis- I always do the glass check on rash. I know it’s extreme to suggest this but it’s always on my mind when a rash appears

Ring 111 back

erythema multiforme ??

DH has developed a similar rash over the last 24/36 hours. He's just finished radiotherapy and is still recovering from that, so we rang the hospital last night - they told us not to use any meds not prescribed by them.
They didn't seem unduly concerned. He doesn't have a temp and it disappears when you roll a glass over it. They advised paracetamol and antihistamine every 4 hours.
That hasn't worked though, so we're going to call them tomorrow. The rash is all over his body now, except his head, and it's very hot to touch, though he's still not running a temp.

I had a similar rash in my 20s. Just came out of nowhere. All over my body and the hives joined together to make bigger swellings. Gone the next day. Happened again a few weeks later. Never did find out what caused it. 🤷‍♀️

bluetongue · 12/09/2022 22:19

Is the rash itchy? A number of years ago I developed an all over itchy rash / hives after a nasty virus which apparently can happen sometimes. Mine started out almost like insect bites though (thought my hotel room had bed bugs!) so a bit different.

I’d be getting it checked out if I were you.

Hi all! Quick update.
Doctor thinks it is hives from a virus I had but I'm actually about to do a covid test because I have symptoms and this looks like covid rash now!
