Bullseye rash or normal bite?

Hey,
have developed this bite, does this look like the bullseye associated with tick bites? I do normally react to bites, the centre of it is concerning me tho 🙈
thanks in advance

Here is the NHS page which may help: www.nhs.uk/conditions/lyme-disease/

Two questions to ask yourself are have you been somewhere that ticks are likely to be and have you seen a tick on your body?

Surtsey · 11/09/2022 16:30

Looks like a fairly normal allergic reaction to a bite or sting to me. I get them regularly. Have you put any antihistamine cream on it?

rubyslippers · 11/09/2022 16:36

I don’t think it looks like a bullseye - it looks like an allergic reaction
I think with a tick bite or a horse fly bite the centre round the bite looks whiter with a larger red outer ring
if you’re concerned, draw a line around the redness and see if it spreads
for now, take an anti histamine and you can also use a cool face cloth to cool it if it’s warm

The tick bite bullseye is usually red in the centre then a slightly paler ring with a red ring outside it. Yours looks like a normal allergic reaction to a bite to me. Cold flannel and antihistamines.

The one time we've had to deal with Lyme disease the bullseye didn't appear for a week or two after the tick bite.
(the tick had been attached for several hours - time enough to travel from the Scottish highlands to the Midlands and was seen still attached so we knew it was a tick)

Thanks everyone, I was in a little bit of a panic. But I think it’s just the normal reaction. I’ve taken some antihistamines and hopefully it will go down a bit now.
thanks for the responses

This was my thigh a couple of weeks ago after a bee sting. Similar sort of thing - raised area with white outline.
I ended up on antibiotics, so keep an eye on it.
I have a history of over-the-top skin reactions. Do you react to other things badly?

We had a big delay too between a tick bite (unseen) and a bullseye and also it was much more of a ring and then grew bigger. It wasn’t filled in like that one if you see what I mean

Jamja · 11/09/2022 21:25

Yes it’s not uncommon for me to react. I’ve ended up on antibiotics too a couple times. I will definitely keep an eye on it. Thanks again everyone

i found a tick right under my knee 3 days ago … I did scratch the scab (bad habit) which may be why the middle is dark - is this a bullseye ??

one picture has the flash on. ~ The other is without it …..

This looks similar to the one on here. You can't see the redness actually pinkish circle that surrounds the bite or mark itself. He kept complaining that it was itching really bad. It's winter time and he doesn't go outside, I wash and bleach our sheets on a regular weekly basis so I don't know what this is?

Mommylonglegs44 · 18/01/2024 11:47

Did you follow up with your provider? What did they say? Curious. I hope all is well.

Hi all,

What do you think of this rash on my 10 year old? We went away to a retreat in the catskill mountains end of summer in Northeast (NY) 3 weeks ago, so I worry it can be from a tick. No other symptoms. I wonder if I should give him antibiotics just in case
