Echiocardiogram of heart or MRI of heart

I had a cardiology appointment last week (telephone) on the 1st and the cardiologist said he would refer me for an MRI of my heart and for a 48 hour monitor of my heart. On monday the 5th I got a text saying that my gp had referred me for an echocardiogram and a 24 hour hear monitor thing. So I called them as I had a conflicting appointment that day (nothing to do with cardiology) and it turns out that this appointment for tomorrow is from my GP made in May. I've told them to cancel it as the information they have is probably not up to date and now I'm thinking, should I just go to the appointment requested by the GP in May or should I wait for the tests the Cardiologist requested?

I'm sure that the referral from the GP was good but the MRI thing seems more indepth in my head? I don't want to complicate matters as I've changed GPs and I've had 2 cardiologists call me on the 1st.

It won’t complicate matters and the more tests you have can help the consultants. It depends on what they are actually looking for but having an echocardiogram won’t affect you having an mri or 24 hour monitor

I think that it will. The GP made a referral but the cardiologist decided on a different level of testing so I'm afraid that the consultant cardiologist's referral will get pushed back. I have an irregular heart rhythm and I don't want to waste anyone's time with the standard referral tests versus the ones requested by the cardiologist. It's cancelled now so I shall wait!
