Feels like a trapped nerve, what helps?

Woke up yesterday with what feels like a trapped nerve in the outside of my thigh. I'm hobbling around, randomly making odd squeaking noises because of the pain when I move. To add insult to injury, we're flying off on a long awaited holiday this week. I'm using freezing gel on it and have attempted some exercises I found on YouTube. Any other hints and advice to try and remedy it, MN?

Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. Gentle exercise.

My physiotherapist told me to avoid ibuprofen for nerve/muscle pain - inflammation is the body's way of healing so you don't want to interfere with that. Take paracetamol for the pain instead.

🤣🤣 well my GP prescribed super high-strength ibuprofen for nerve pain in the thigh and said it’ll help with the inflammation.

OP - google sciatica stretches the problem might be referred pain from your back.

Whatever you stretch, do so slowly and gently and not too much so you don’t make it worse.

Good luck!

@Whatawasteofcats Hmm well yes - it will "help" with the inflammation by getting rid of it, but will also interrupt and slow the body's natural healing process especially early on after an injury.
