MRI Scan - how long for results?

If you’ve had an MRI recently how long did you wait for the results from the consultant? I had a Head scan a week ago and no news as yet, but the letter from the MRI department says to allow 4 weeks!

I feel sick with worry. I’ve had about 8 MRI’s in the past and never waited longer than about a week for the results. Maybe it’s a Covid backlog?

I had a brain MRI a couple of weeks ago, and had a copy of results from the consultant a week later. It probably depends on your hospital, and the fact that there was a bank holiday last week. I hope you get your results soon!

Mine was promised in 10 days but they had a backlog. Think it was over the two week mark before the report was through.

I got mine through in about a week.

It's probably a covid thing. I was told a week by my GP, 2 weeks by the person doing the scan. I waited 7 weeks

Hi 4 weeks is pretty normal for brain scans. My results from the beginning on May took 6 weeks and it wasn't particularly good news, so you can't really say no news is good news! However if it was something very serious I think you would hear sooner than 4 weeks. It's a horrible time waiting, I hope you do get good news.

I had mine in Jan, appt is next week with the consultant.

I had a heart mri last year and was told results within 10-14 days. I ended up waiting 5 weeks. I chased up with consultants secretary who said if anything urgent was picked up I would have heard back sooner. All was okay and I received a letter after 5 weeks explaining that.

Depends whether the referral was marked urgent or not.
I've had lots in the past but precovid. Just had one today, none urgent and I was referred for it in April.
They said expect results in 4 weeks.
