DD is having a skin lesion excised tomorrow as it has been around for months, grown and refuses to heal.

After being back to the GP a few times, finally saw one who said "must get rid of it asap - make first available appt".

Same GP just left message to say another GP will be doing the Monor Ops clinic, and to warn DD that they might not know remove whole thing (quite big) but might just tale a biopsy sample! "rest assured, we will do the right thing".

WHY would they not remove the whole thing now if there is any possibility it is suspicious? It is also not a sightly mark for a teenager to have, so whichever way, he had already said a scar would look better!

Any suggestions?

trust the experts and ask them the questions .. if in doubt ask for a 2nd opinion before going ahead

I think there's a big difference between removing something for analysis and for cosmetic reasons .. personally if it is as large and unsightly as you are intimating, and you are sure it is benign (following biopsy), I think I'd be happier with a plastic surgeon doing the actual removal

I intend to grill them tomorrow.

It is not that big, but started as a spot. (The scar would be approx 6cm long as there is further spreading under skin).

It's just he said "remove it quick, I'll do it myself, make appt now" and now he's not doing it!

Well, the other GP also thought it was best out, so it is all gone now and she has 9 stitches.

Hopefully it will heal soon.

Poor thing, and how worrying for you. Hope it's not to painful for her.

Thanks, it will be sore and she has to be careful (as there was no "spare" skin) not to do anything too vigorous or the stitches could split!

Back next week to see if stitches can come out - and see if Pathology results back.
