Spider/ insect bite or something else?

I had a little spot on the bottom of y rib cage last week which has turned into this (picture attached) it is red and very sore all round it, I’m finding it hard to lay on that side. What could it be? Insect or spider bite or something else?

Are you sure it was a bite? Was it itchy? It looks like an abscess.

My husband and I had very similar and ours was a horsefly bite.

We saw pharmacist who told us to apply bite cream, which has worked.
