TMJ?

So I have always suffered with headaches and more so the days I’m at work as a secretary at a pc. I know it’s probably tension looking at screen. I had a headache all day yesterday at work and it felt different and nothing got rid of it. This morning I thought it had gone then noticed when I clenched my jaw, it was throbbing in the vein above my temple one side which is now sensitive to touch.

I then remembered I dreamed my bottom teeth fell out so I expect I was grinding my teeth.

Does this sound like TMJ to fellow sufferers? I keep worrying it could be temporal arteritis after Googling that!

Your dentist can tell you. It's pretty treatable - bite guards, exercises, and masseter Botox are common interventions. Make an appointment with your dentist and your optician.

I have TMJ and would not be quick to diagnose after one night of teeth grinding resulting in a soreness. Maybe see if it continues as this is more of a long term disorder which heavily reoccurring bouts.
My pain is agonising - bringing me to tears. I have been given jaw stretching exercises as part of my treatment, have a teeth guard, been advised to eat a permanent soft diet, use a hot water bottle and ibuprofen gel for pain relief BUT this is not really curable.

Oh and I ended up going private as the NHS waiting lists for this in my area are years not months long. Dentists need to make the referrals but be prepared to wait.

My TMJ was cured by a course of masseter injection. It's fine now. I wear a bite guard but that's it.

@lomoko how many time have you had the Botox? I had it end of June and it completely took tmj pain away but the past few days I can feel the pain coming back. X

Please ring 111 and see what they say, I thought I had similar to you with flu like symptoms - it was diagnosed and I'm now being treated for Giant Cell Arteritis which can be very serious if not treated. Good luck.
