IBS ... Any tips on treating symptoms please? .....

Over the last five days I have been suffering from what I beleive is irritable bowel syndrome (having diagnosed myself from the internet. Feel really bloated, suffering from excess wind etc etc

My GP had suspected that I suffered from it several months ago but I stupidly dismissed it as I had gone to discuss TTC DC2 and did not think that the two matters were/could be linked.

Anyway, my question is does anyone have any remedies that assist with the symptons of IBS?

Thanks

I got some pills from the doctor when I had it and they were great. I only needed to take them for a few months before I was sorted. More fibre in your diet helps and fresh fruit.

Try Kolanticol gel (sp). It's a behind-the-counter at pharmacies anti-dispepsia remedy. It's miles cheaper than Gaviscon etc and is brilliant for dealing with indigestion, trapped wind, nausea.
DH has IBS and swears by it
Also - keep a food diary of what makes it worse. DH really suffers after read meat & spicy foods

Thank you for the comments. Food diary sounds like a good idea as I think pasta/wheat may be a trigger but really need some evidence!

HI - try cutting out gluten for a week and see what happens - then you can slowly reintroduce - porridge oats first (the 'mildest') then barley, rye, millet etc and lastly wheat. It helped me vastly but I had to stick at gluten free.xx
