Not sure where to begin or what I’m looking for with this but hoping someone has some advice.

Mid 30’s fairly fit and eat an okay diet. Woke up on Saturday with a horrible backache - I’ve been away so put it down to a different bed and didn’t think anything of it. Also I have had a slightly reduced appetite and upset stomach but nothing to really take note of, and I have been eating just not ‘fancying’ things as much as usual.

Fastforward to Sunday night, the backache just isn’t getting better and I can’t sleep. It’s coming from the middle of my back and radiating through my entire midsection.

manage to get a GP appointment on Monday (have to call in sick to work - my first day back after 3 weeks A/L….greatttt) and they aren’t sure what it is - dip test my urine and it’s clear but he wants to treat me for a UTI. Now I’ve had UTIs before and it just doesn’t feel like one - no issues with going for a wee, no pain - nothing. Plus a clear dip. Been taking MacroBid now since yesterday and it’s not made the slightest difference.

also when I breathe deeply the pain increases and it’s like someone is squeezing my kidneys?

does anyone have any idea what this could be? I’ve done the worst thing by Googling it and now I’m so worried that it could be something serious. I’m not as bad as I used to be in my 20s but I do get health anxiety.

got a follow up GP call this morning and not sure what I should push for. I absolutely do not feel normal though and I know something isn’t right

So teary this morning feel like such shit being ill and not knowing what’s wrong, missing work and to top it off I’ve dropped my toddler at childminders and she burst into tears which has just got me feeling so guilty. I just want to feel normal again!

Did the Gp send a sample off or just the dipstick? It might be a kidney infection which causes stabby pain and nausea, take the antibiotics and see how it goes and if you still don't feel better get another appointment.

Gall stones?

He did send off a sample so hopefully that will shed some light. I just feel like if it was that would the antibiotics not have started to make things even slightly better? I definitely feel worse :( no nausea anymore (I did have a little bit at the weekend) and no stabby pain, but it does feel like someone is squeezing them when I breathe deely

Antibiotics also make you feel yuck so I'd not expect to feel better till the end of the course.

Is it a 3 day course ? Hopefully you can ring for results today or tomorrow so you will have a better idea. Drink loads also cranberry juice is great for infection.
