Sudden achy legs - what could this be?

In the last month I have suddenly developed achy legs and I think it’s become worse in the last week. I am nearly 50 - but very fit, slim and no known health conditions. I have also been feeling a bit light headed so had my blood pressure checked and also blood to make sure I was not anaemia. All tests seemed fine.

Today, for example, I was mainly sitting down as I was working from home. But in the evening I was doing some light tidying up and then standing in the kitchen doing some washing up, etc. After a while it was a struggle to keep standing and now, sitting down, my lower legs and feet are still a bit achy.

Any ideas? Hormonal? Chronic fatigue syndrome?

it’s driving me crazy as I have gone from feeling young to feeling like I am in my 90s….

Sounds perimenopausal. Aching joints are a menopause symptom. As is dizziness. How are you managing your perimenopause?

Hmm - the leg pain doesn’t feel like joint pain as such - more like a heavy, tired feeling. But you are right in that I am perimenopausal - so that could be it…

Could be mild sciatica. I get that feeling if I tweak a muscle in my lower back or at the onset of sciatica. I have naproxen from the gp to sort it out - have you tried ibuprofen?
