I'm very worried about dd2. She's 7m old and has had white stool for 2 days, lots of it. She won't eat any solids but doesn't have temp. she didn't look too bad yeaterday, was playing and behaving normally. But this morning she's very sleepy and apathic. She slept most of the morning and didn't want any breakfast apart from a bottle. I called the doc but he said not to worry if her condition doesn't worsen. Any experience ? I made the mistake of googling so now I'm all panicked that she might have a liver condition or celiac disease...

White poo can be indicative of coeliac disease - which is basically gluten intolerance. have you recently tried her oon any new foods containing gluten ? Bread, breadsticks etc ?

Ash80 · 22/01/2008 17:21

Don't worry, hopefully it should pass. Its probably good idea if the GP did some tests for your peace of mind.

moljam · 22/01/2008 17:32

no use google btw-i did it when ds was like it-all i got was dog poo!and celiac disease as suggested.

When my DD was around 18 months she had white poo for around two weeks had lost weight and was quite unwell, GP eventually took a stool sample and it came back as the Roto Virus, a nasty tummy bug that can take a while to clear up. I would take her to see the GP if your worried. Hope she gets better soon.x

Thanks all for the replies.
I took her to the paed last night and he didn't seem overly worried, just said it was a liver virus that should clear soon. Another one of those mysterious viruses - most of the time they ring to my ear as 'I don't know what it is so we'll just say it's a virusm shall we ?!'. So I'm not convinced. But her poo's slowly turning yellow so hopefully she's started to recover.
If it was cow's milk or gluten intolerance, shouldn't she have started pooing white as soon as I started her on formula and gluten ? She was breastfed for 6 months but is now on formula only (won't take the boobs ) and eats cereals containing gluten. Shouldn't there be other signs that should worry me ?
