I've cut the ball of my thumb on a carving knife. The cut is about an inch long and quite deep. It's stopped bleeding now, and I have covered it with sticking plasters - one to hold it together and three or so more over it to try to protect it. But it is still incredibly painful and it's very difficult to do anything without using your right thumb. Can anyone think of anything I might possibly have in the house that would protect it a bit more? I've tried cutting the thumb out of a rubber glove but I couldn't make it stay on. Or should i break my New Year Resolution and drink alcohol until it stops hurting?
