Occasional eyeball shudder after screen use

Does anyone else get this? Only ever happens when my eyes are tired/using screens/writing/reading and infrequently at that (maybe once a day) but it’s kind of like my eyes get overloaded and shake momentarily to relieve the tension. It’s over in a split second and sometimes just one jerk in one direction but occasionally several jerks back and forth but only after prolonged screen use.

Optician found no issues and I’m due to go to eye clinic on Friday. No evident neurological issues and GP doesn’t feel it presents as nystagmus.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced it as am feeling a bit anxious about it now despite it being an issue for months now. I have hypermobility syndrome and astigmatism which might be relevant.

Thanks!

I’ve given myself anxiety 🙈 for the past week my eyes ‘jerk/ shudder’ whenever I focus on something ie phone, Tv etc. It lasts a second and then my vision goes back to normal. I’ve been to my optician who says my eyes are fine. I’ve had a bit of a stressful few months so not sure it could be related.. Does anyone else get this?!

Not a medical expert so you should probably get checked out to be sure, but I have had this in the past and do still sometimes get it when tired/stressed/watching too much tv/screen. Went to the opticians and gp and (after being sent to the hospital for further eye tests) they concluded it was simply eye strain and to try and reduce screen time. I also occasionally feel as though my eyeballs are vibrating/flickering back and forth when I close them to go to sleep at night.

Thank you! I’ve been to the opticians for a full eye check and they think it could potentially be a symptom of ocular migraines but my eyes are generally healthy. It’s driving me mad though! I get the vibrating eye balls sensation when I close my eyes at night too 😭

@Hereforadvice201 I’ve just seen your post, I started this thread a while ago and got no replies. So I ended up in eye casualty after seeing my GP about it. I was seen by a consultant who said it was perfectly normal, nothing to worry about and most likely stress related. It’s got much better since I’ve stopped worrying about it although I do
also get the vibrating eye sensation when I shut my eyes sometimes. Honestly it sounds identical. And so much worse when I’m stressed.

@Stropalotopus83 thanks so much for
your input too. It seems relatively common. There are lots of threads about it on Reddit if you search.

Thanks so much @Foreverbaffled thats put my mind at rest. I wasn’t sure if I’ve always had this feeling in my eye but only just noticed it through anxiety / overthinking it if you know what I mean!

@Hereforadvice201 you’re welcome! I was so anxious it was something neurological but was totally reassured by the ophthalmologist. I’m glad you can be too. Controlling my stress and anxiety has stopped it almost completely
