Hi just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar this all started after my c section January 2022 every time I was going to the toilet I was noticing mucus and bloody but the mucus was bloody as well and then I was having urgency’s to go to the toilet with awful cramping and then it Would be lose motions with blood 5 times this happened it was strange it was happening once every couple weeks but even when I was having normal bowel movements the bloody mucus would still be there and then I would have bouts of constipation never suffered with anything like this before around 2 months ago the doctor ordered blood tests FBC all came back normal but my liver count was elevated but this has been like this for around 2 years now I have PCOS so he said it could be associated with that I’m due to have a scan on my liver in the next 2 weeks
he also got me to do a calprotectin stool test and it came back abnormal at 157 he said I need to repeat this again which I’ve just sent of all my symptoms seemed to have calmed down and now it’s started up again each morning I wake I get stomach pains at the bottom of my stomach until I’ve gone the toilet I did get referred to the gastro team never heard anything back for ages anyway I had a txt message last week saying someone will call me this week and there doing telephone consultations at the moment due to covid when they called me they said I would need a colonoscopy due to having levels of 157 she said i definitely have some sort of inflammation going on and she needs to check so waiting on letter to come through

I’m worried sick of what this could be I have 2 Children and is making me worry Incase I have something badly wrong when I requested my results to be printed out of the doctor cos I wanted a copy so I could see it myself it stated on there from the stool test

Moderately raised results may indicate bowel inflammation possible causes include

IBD infection NAIADS or Neoplasia

I’ve been checked for infection with blood work and that was normal
sorry for the long post I’m just say worrying why I wait for my appointments to come through

xx

I had almost exactly the same and it was nothing. I had mucus and blood for months and months and then it suddenly stopped. I had a colonoscopy and they concluded I must have just had isolated inflammation. No disease was found. They did find some internal piles and injected them while I was having the procedure.

Btw I was also told I didn't have an infection but totally coincidentally I got v bad sinusitis and needed antibiotics and it was after those antibiotics that the mucus and blood stopped. The colon doctor said it was an odd coincidence but I do wonder whether I had picked up something that needed an antibiotic to kill it off!

@SpotOnMyBot that’s reassuring did you have urgency to go too with blood ?
just can’t wait to find out what’s going on it’s the not known driving me mad x

Yes I did, it was hideous. I actually had to change my commute to take trains with toilets just in case.

I must admit they were a bit mystified in the end because the symptoms cleared up without them doing anything having been there so long. Which made them worry they could just return. But so far they haven't (fingers crossed).

Poor you - when is your colonoscopy?

Lou9817 · 20/08/2022 09:54

@SpotOnMyBot it is it’s awful well im just waiting on the letter to come through but if it’s not ibd definitely must be something for my calprotectin levels to be 157 and to be having so many symptoms literally al started after my c section 🤦🏻‍♀️ Glad your symptoms have gone and your all okay now x

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis years ago with those symptoms after a colonoscopy. I can now manage it by not eating supermarketvbread or pastry or cakes. I make my own and thats working fine. Cutting out maltodextrin, magnesium Stearate, rapeseed oul and a few other additives from my diet. Eat easy to digest foods until it clears bananas, porridge, avocado, and lots I organic live yoghurt. Avoid anything hard to digest: wholemeal, nuts, chillies. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon it's really not very nice at all. Rest!

Lou9817 · 20/08/2022 10:03

@ticktickticktickBOOM sorry to hear you have this but at lest it’s manageable x

I just want to kno exactly what’s going on I have been told level of 157 isn’t to high but it’s clearly stating something is going on hopefully I’ll have some answers soon 🤞🤞🤞 x

Eat carefully till you know as that should at least ease your symptoms. Good luck!

@ticktickticktickBOOM on my results it says on there that it could be ibd infection but it’s not infection as that got tested for
but what I’m worrying about is it says neoplasia which has worried me sick cos that can be cancer 😰 GP is calling me Monday gonna tell him my worries
